Less than 48 hours after one of its most disappointing performances of the season, the Western Kentucky baseball team responded with a pair of victories Sunday in a doubleheader against Florida International, winning 8-4 and 8-3 in eight innings at Nick Denes Field. WKU got a walk-off grand slam from Monte Ketchum in game one, then rallied with a six-run seventh inning in game two to win its 17th straight weekend series at Denes Field. Jerseys The victories came on the heels of a 7-6, 10-inning loss to the Golden Panthers on Friday that left WKU coach Chris Finwood none too pleased with the Hilltoppers' effort. "I told the guys, 'As mad as I was at you after Friday, I'm that proud of you today,' " Finwood said. "We sat around all day Saturday wondering if we were going to play or not. Today we had to play at nine in the morning. Then to win the series, you have to beat an outstanding FIU club in a doubleheader and we were able to do it. I told the guys I'm proud of that. It's a heck of a day for us to come out and battle through it." WKU first baseman Jake Wells added: "We've played good at home so far this year. Big conference series are always good for us, especially with where we are sitting in the conference standings now. We know if we want to make a regional we have to move up, and home series is where it starts." Ketchum finished the day with five RBIs and helped WKU (30-14 overall, 11-7 SBC) end a Sun Belt slide. The Hilltoppers entered Sunday having lost five straight SBC games. Ketchum's game-winner in the opener came after WKU took a 4-1 lead through four innings. Replica Breitling Bentley Watches Florida International (23-16, 10-8) picked up two runs in the fifth and a run in the seventh, but Bart Carter held the Golden Panthers in check over the final two innings to set up Ketchum's blast to left field that rocketed through the gusty winds. "When I first hit it, I was running down the line looking at it, thinking, 'Please stay fair,' " Ketchum said. Carter picked up the win to improve to 2-0, while Shane Cameron allowed four runs and struck out eight in 6 1/3 innings. "Bart did a great job in that game, keeping them down," Finwood said. "Cameron gave us a real good start. We were able to get one big hit and sometimes that is all you need to win in college baseball." That big hit in game two came after a frustrating six innings during which the Hilltoppers were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. The Golden Panthers scratched across single runs in the second and third innings off WKU pitcher Brian Edelen - who was making his first weekend start - but the right-hander battled and kept the score close, holding FIU to those two runs in 5 1/3 innings. "He's had a heck of a week," Finwood said. "He gave us five great innings against Kentucky on Tuesday night in front of 6,000 people (at Bowling Green Ballpark) and comes out here in a must-win game and gives us 5 1/3 more good innings against a really good hitting ballclub. He really gave us a shot in the arm this week." WKU got on the board in the fifth inning on a solo home run by Jared Andreoli, and finally took the lead by sending 11 men to the plate in the seventh. Ketchum pulled WKU even with an RBI groundout with the bases loaded and Wells followed with a two-run single - WKU's first hit with runners in scoring position Other articles: http://www.rheintreff24.de/blog/view/id_466/title_faith-is-all-we-require/ http://www.stlpunk.com/blog/view/id_17769/title_Celtic-want-Jamo-to-be-a-new-B/

Sweet scent of success as Crod
DATE: 08/26/2010 09:43:54 / MOOD:
The company, based in Snaith, East Yorkshire, specialises in natural chemicals for anti-wrinkle creams and other skin-care products.
The group has managed to avoid the recession as consumers continue to splash out on top-of-the-range beauty and skin-care products.
Croda, which supplies ingredients to skin-care and cosmetics companies such as L'Oreal, Chanel, Clarins, EstA[c]e Lauder, Boots and Procter and Gamble, said pre-tax profits rose 95 per cent, to A[pounds sterling]42.4m, in the three months to March 31.
The improvement was partly due to restocking, but analysts were bullish about the group's future.
Jeremy Batstone-Carr, at Charles Stanley, said: "Croda has delivered an outstanding set of first quarter results, exceeding our expectations by Replica the best Designer Tiffany Jewelry Handbags a wide margin boosted by solid growth in the larger consumer care division and very strong growth in industrial specialities."
Group sales increased by 14.7 per cent, to A[pounds sterling]264.7m.
Net debt ended the quarter at A[pounds sterling]292.7m, little changed on the figure seen at the end of 2009.
The consumer care division reported a 20.6 per cent increase in operating profits, to A[pounds sterling]34.6m, on sales ahead by 1.4 per cent, to A[pounds sterling]130m.
The industrial specialities division generated an operating profit of A[pounds sterling]10.5m on sales, ahead by 31.3 per cent, to A[pounds sterling]134.7m.
Mr Batstone-Carr said: "We view Croda as both predator and possible prey in a European sector where consolidation talk has picked up of late. We maintain our accumulate recommendation although earnings upgrades may have to wait a while."
Croda said it has no plans for any immediate acquisitions.
The group said it expects prices of raw materials to rise.
Finance director Sean Christie said: "We do expect so far to have a good year, but the rest of the year might just be a little bit quieter than this."
Analyst James balenciaga replica Bags Replica Tetley, at Brewin Dolphin, said the shares were down due to broader market concerns on euro zone debt, but the sentiment on Croda remained positive in general.
"The first quarter was much better than people expected," he said. "So, even if later in the year is not quite so good, I think the full year will still be better than people were expecting before."
Citigroup analyst Sophie Jourdier said: "The company now looks set to continue on a strong earnings growth path, which should help reduce its debt position."
Croda's ingredients represent a very small proportion of the final selling price of a personal care product. But these ingredients are frequently the reason why the product has an effect and the reason why it sells.
The company has increasingly moved away from commodity chemicals to focus on innovative, higher-margin ingredients used in sun-tan lotions and haircare products.
Croda's chief executive, Mike Humphrey, believes it is vital that the company continues to invest despite the current economic downturn.
"In times of recession, people stop thinking about the future, but you don't want to come out of recession and find you haven't got a future," he said.
"If we stop investing now, then in two to three years time we will be in trouble. Too many companies are taking a short-term view."
Croda investment
Croda is launching a multi-million-pound investment in green technology to cash in on the ever increasing demand for environmentally friendly products.
The group is building a speciality biofermentation plant in Widnes to produce natural chemicals for anti-wrinkle creams and other skin-care products Other articles: http://www.janadians.com/blog/view/id_1149/title_ruben-navarrette-mexico’s-vote/ http://www.aiuwe.com/blog/view/id_797/title_bittersweet-week-oklahoma-educ/

THE BEAUTY TOP TEN; Celebrity
DATE: 08/25/2010 07:55:39 / MOOD:
Byline: KAY MONTANO ONE of the questions I get asked most is: 'What's the best makeup brand?' If only it were that simple. If you peeked inside any makeup artist's kit, you'd find myriad of brands, as well as a few you'd never heard of. Here are my favourite (and essential) products, which I have tried and tested on actresses from Nicole Kidman to Bond girl Eva Green. Stock up on these beauty staples and you'll have the ultimate makeup kit. 1 Foundation STARTING with a good 'base' is the bedrock of every makeup artist's work because it creates the perfect canvas to work on. The best formulations are by the luxury brands and my standout favourite is Chanel, which excels in the difficult area of skin colour and mature skins. Strangely, with most High Street brands, it is still hard to find a matching foundation for complexions such as the ethereal pale of Nicole Kidman or the honey-olive hue of Salma Hayek. But CHANEL has the perfect match for a broad range of skin tones and is what I use when I work with these leading ladies. The VITALUMIERE range looks beautiful on dry or mature skin, correcting imperfections without detection. The TEINT LUMIERE range is a lighter foundation, more suitable for the average skin type. Start by applying foundation with a sponge from the centre of your face (for minimal coverage, apply with a brush exactly where you need it). Blend in seamlessly with your fingers. top fashion wallets on-line Handags Replica 2 Under-eye concealer UNDER-EYE concealer to hide dark circles is a product that many women are understandably mystified about because there are very few on the market that really do the job. Since YVES SAINT LAURENT created shades of TOUCHE ECLAT to suit a broader variety of skin tones, I've become a big fan. It's especially good on the 30-plus woman as the formula is so fine that it doesn't accentuate fine lines and wrinkles, as so many under-eye concealers do. Choose a colour replica burberry Replica Handbags slightly lighter than your own and apply in a semi circle from the space beneath the start of your eyebrow, around the inner corner of the eye and along the under-eye circle, where it is darker or sunken. Continue by applying a line starting just underneath the outer corners of your lower lashes, following a slightly upward stroke. Pat the concealer into the skin with the fingertips until the product is blended. 3 Concealer WHAT'S a woman to do about Celebrity makeup artist and Lifestyle columnist KAYMONTANO helps you create the perfect cosmetics bag the terrible timing of spots and blemishes? I swear by ESTEE LAUDER DOUBLE WEAR concealer, which is available in a variety of shades and can make the most awful blemish history in no time. Even Hollywood actresses get spots and I've saved many a star's blushes with this concealer. Double Wear has the added benefit of being incredibly longlasting. Apply carefully on to the blemish and press in gently with the fingertips. 4 Powder ANOTHER of my reliable beauty products is LAURA MERC Other articles: http://www.cat-network.net/blog/view/id_353/title_video-from-synaptic-digital-an/ http://www.aquariaspot.com/blog/view/id_664/title_Water-sewer-projects-on-the-w/

The bailiffs or Balenciaga - I
DATE: 08/25/2010 07:55:25 / MOOD:
THE economy is shrinking faster than Katie Price's cup size, fuel and food costs more than ever and millions of people may find themselves with an openended Christmas holiday from work this year. Things are bad, and they are going to get worse, so they say. You might expect then that for most people, shopping for shopping's sake has become a thing of the past. So why when you wander around Liverpool One on a Saturday afternoon, do you still have to queue to use the changing rooms and everywhere you look skinny wrists are struggling under the weight of bulging shopping bags? I know Gordon Brown has talked about spending our way out of recession but I am not sure this is quite what he meant. Best Breguet Watches Online You would have to be a Russian oligarch not to have noticed that your money just doesn't seem to go as far these days. Mind you even the mega-rich must have noticed it is costing more to fill up their super-yachts than it did this time last year. Swiss Replica Paul Picot Watches According to a survey in women's weekly magazine Grazia this week, three quarters of women are worried about the credit crunch affecting their lifestyle and almost half of us are cutting down on our spending. That said 83% of us say we still shop for clothes, accessories and beauty products at least once a week. However the findings also suggest that most of us are being more selective about what we buy with half of those questioned saying that they are being careful about what they spend, visiting more stores and doing their homework about trends before parting with their cash. Grazia has, in true women's magazine style, labelled this new breed of shopper the "recessionista". Suppose we should be thankful they didn't go for "shoporexic". I am as guilty as the next person of indulging myself in a little mood-enhancing retail therapy now and then. But at the moment, like everyone, I have that niggling voice at the back of the mind that I should be putting some money aside just in case, instead of treating any cash I have left in my account at the end of the month, as currency that must be burned on the altar of the high street quickly as possible. I am trying to teach myself to differentiate between clothing that I need to buy (tights, knickers, a pair of gloves) and clothes that I want (this gorgeous Tony Cohen party dress, pounds 440 at House of Fraser, left). Chopard Happy Beach and Happy Fish I am staying out of Primark - when things only cost pounds 2 how can I not need them? - and have even got my George at Asda habit under control (nearly). Granted, saving up doesn't have the same instantaneous thrill of putting on a new pair of shoes but it's got to beat battling with bailiffs. British pair roar into lead at
British Rail pays out over asb
DATE: 08/24/2010 07:01:32 / MOOD:
The family of a man who innocently "rolled asbestos into balls and played football with it" have received a six-figure sum in compensation after it killed him 60 years later. Raymond Neale was one of hundreds of former workers of Swindon's famous railway works to be stricken with mesothelioma, a condition so common in the town it has become known as "the Swindon disease". Replica Jacob & Co. Watch Last night, after agreeing an out-of-court settlement with British Rail, his son Danny said his father used to tell him how he and his fellow workers were exposed to massive amounts of the deadly material, and never knew the danger. Mr Neale died in 2008 at the age of 76, more than 60 years after he first began working as an apprentice French polisher at what was then the GWR works in Swindon. He was made redundant in 1962 as part of the Beeching cutbacks, but his early exposure to asbestos, which was used to line the panels inside the train carriages, eventually killed him. "The wagons would come into him with the panels off, and they would spray and polish them. The asbestos would be hanging out of them and it was so commonplace that my dad said they used to roll it up into balls and play football and cricket with it during their breaks," said Mr Neale. "He was a reasonably fit, healthy guy until just a few months before he died. He used to ride everywhere on a bike but in 2008 his health deteriorated rapidly," Mr Neale explained. Within 10 days of being admitted to hospital with what doctors initially thought was a stomach ulcer, Raymond Neale died. Post-mortem tests showed asbestos in his lungs, liver and stomach and the tiny shards of asbestos which he breathed in 60 years earlier eventually killed him. "The compensation was an after-thought really," said son Danny, who now lives Dimmable LED Down Light K1009H - 1x10W in Peterborough. "He never knew what it was that he had in those final few weeks. "He was a working man all his life, and we never had any money. "His illness and death meant my mum has now had to go and live in a care home, which is a real shame. He loved his beer and was always quite tight, and I grew up knowing that I'd never have much money," he added. "So when I heard about the compensation, I just thought 'thanks, dad', but it was ironic that he never lived long enough to know that British Rail would be the cause of his death. There are so many in Swindon like him. His brother has been diagnosed with asbestos in his lungs too." Brigitte Chandler, from Swindon law firm Charles Lucas and Marshall, which specialises makeup brush in the claims, said the numbers of claimants were continuing to rise. "When I first started dealing with these claims, British Rail invariably disputed them," she said. "It is now much easier because BR tend to accept liability and are aware there is no defence. "Overall, we anticipate the number of people developing asbestos disease over the next few years will increase due to the import of asbestos into this country in the 50s, 60s and 70s." Hats off to Phyllis; How heire

Byline: TIM WOODWARD IN the days when credit cards weren't even a twinkle in a bank manager's eye, Phyllis Millar was seriously splashing out at the shops. The heiress who married a gentleman farmer spent the best part of this century spending. And only the best would do. A glimpse into her wardrobe, crammed with Chanel, Hardy Amies and Christian Dior, shows this was a lady who really knew how to shop. As well as dressing herself in the finest of fashions, she commissioned a houseful of paintings and owned a collection of prize-winning racehorses. Her love Yves Saint Laurent Shoes for beautiful things never deserted her. When she turned 90, her son had to talk her out of treating herself to a Mercedes sports car. Mrs Millar died earlier this year at 92, after years of indulging her most exquisite of tastes. Now, her family are sifting through the results of her lifetime shopping spree at her mansion near Tavistock, Devon. Every spare inch of the eight-bedroom Coryton House is crammed with hats, shoes, dresses, luxurious underwear and glamorous furs. 'She had money and she certainly spent it,' said her son Tim Millar, 60, who has a country estate next to his mother's home. 'She simply loved fine things, and she certainly was a snappy dresser. But I had no idea she had hoarded everything quite like this. 'It seems she never threw anything away she bought, and as one room in the house became filled with her belongings she simply moved on to the next.' Antiques expert Robin Fenner, who runs the Stannary Gallery in Tavistock, arrived at Coryton House expecting to carry out a normal probate valuation. Instead he was 'dumbfounded' by what he discovered. 'There were fashion items packed from top to bottom in every one of the 20-odd rooms in the house,' he said. 'An old toilet had been converted to house her furs. The collection extended to the outbuildings, and even into a large barn. 'Gymnastic ability was required to overcome the barriers caused by trunks, suitcases and strung brown paper packages. Mountaineering might not be going too far.' wholesale Christian Louboutin Shoes Mrs Millar made her first official fashion statement in the 1920s when she was presented at court. Her debutante outfit was a golden full-length beaded dress with beaded train, feather headdress, and kid gloves. The dress was found lovingly packed away in the house. replica shoes Although much of the collection had deteriorated by the time Mr Fenner got to it, more than 600 salvaged items will be auctioned at Coryton House next month. He believes Mrs Millar - who also had a daughter, who died 12 years ago - must have got through several million pounds in her lifetime. The sale will include several paintings which she commissioned from equestrian artist John Rattenbury Skeaping as well as a piano bearing the name of her father, Arthur Percy Stro Other articles: http://www.trifectacollectibles.com/blog/view/id_273/title_India-Inc-turns-Holmes-for-new/ http://mycult.org/blog/view/id_5455/title_crank-cases/
