A MAN caught hiding bags of cocaine between his buttocks when police stopped and searched his car has avoided a prison sentence.

Bristol Crown Court heard Harry Brake, of Youngwood Lane, Nailsea had pooled money with his friends to buy the class A drug in bulk at a discount.

The court was told some of the cocaine was found after an "intimate search" of the defendant.

A quantity of pills, which were later found not to be illegal, were also recovered, along with Brake's mobile phone.

Police found incriminating messages on the phone, including one which read "got any gear mate?" and another which asked "did you make any profit?" Adamson pleaded guilty on April 9 to possession of cocaine with intent to supply on a non-commercial basis and yesterday appeared at Bristol Crown Court to hear his fate.

Sally Thompson, prosecuting, told Judge Michael Longman that Brake was a regular user and only intended to buy to supply himself and his friends but found that circle ever widening.

On November 7 last year he was also caught in possession of cannabis at the Somerfield car park in Nailsea.

Defending Brake, Sarah Regan said: "He stands before the court, in his own words, having made the stupidest mistake of his life."

Ms Regan described Brake as vulnerable and impressionable. She said: "Because of his personality he was the person chosen by his 'friends' to take the risk (of dealing drugs).

"It spiralled out of control. He told the dealer at one stage that he didn't want to be part of it any more but found out that you can't just pull out of selling drugs."

She said: "He is a simple man who loves fishing.

"Despite his size he is very shy and is about as different to those who usually come before the court as can be."

Engineers India Ltd (EIL), the public sector engineering and consultancy services company, is working on a plan to play a key role in the city gas distribution sector.

Luxury goods firm Burberry posted a big jump in retail sales after seeing strong demand for accessories and outerwear.
